Dr. Joshua Wyche, an accomplished pharmacist with an extensive background in business management, has been named Augusta University Health’s assistant vice president of strategic planning and pharmacy services.
Wyche joined AU Health in 2016 as the pharmacy manager for Ambulatory and Oncology Services and has served as the director of Pharmacy since 2019. In these positions, he helped facilitate and implement the health system’s COVID-19 vaccination clinics, which have administered more than 30,000 vaccinations to date in permanent and pop-up locations. He also implemented several strategic initiatives, including opening pharmaceutical services in the Georgia Cancer Center’s clinics at University Hospital and expanding the health system’s retail pharmacy operations.
Additionally, he teamed up with the Hull College of Business at Augusta University to help launch the state’s only two-year Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency for pharmacy residents interested in leadership positions.
Before joining AU Health, Wyche held leadership positions at some of the nation’s top insurance agencies, including Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company.
“Joshua possesses a wealth of experience in business and pharmacy practice, and the leadership he has demonstrated in organizing and executing AU Health’s vaccination program is truly unparalleled,” said AU Health CEO Katrina Keefer. “With his commitment and experience in providing high-quality pharmaceutical and business solutions, I am confident his efforts will continue to enhance the patient care experience.”
In this position, Wyche will serve as AU Health’s chief pharmacy officer, leading the health system’s pharmaceutical and strategic initiatives, and be responsible for working with the chief strategy officer in assessing and developing strategies that support the mission and vision of the health system.
Wyche received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Midwestern University. He also completed a Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency from Parkland Health and Hospital System.
