Augusta University celebrates Donate Life Month

April is Donate Life Month, and Augusta University Health is kicking off its celebration a week early with its inaugural Donate Life Movie Night featuring director Zach Braff’s comedy Going in Style, starring Oscar winners Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin.

This free event will begin at 6 p.m. March 26 in the Maxwell Theatre on the university’s Summerville campus and will include a silent auction, a raffle and food trucks. Proceeds from the event will benefit AU Health’s Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Patient Support Fund.

The Donate Life Movie Night program is hosted by the Carlos & Marguerite Mason Solid Organ Transplant Center and LifeLink of Georgia, and is sponsored in part by Augusta University’s Department of Student Life & Engagement.

Donate Life Month is one of the many ways the Augusta University Kidney and Pancreas Transplant program, along with their patient volunteers, work year-round to register organ donors and raise money to help kidney transplant patients, donors and their loved ones with transplant-related expenses.

Since 1968, over 2,600 lifesaving kidney and pancreas transplants have been performed at the Augusta University Medical Center, and the opening of AU Health’s Solid Organ Transplant Center doubled the capacity for transplant evaluations and ongoing care to patients.

Order t-shirts by March 29.
