STILLWATER, Okla. – The last time the Augusta Jaguars played for the national championship at Karsten Creek Golf Club, they claimed their second consecutive NCAA Division I title. Augusta returns to Oklahoma State’s home course for the 2018 NCAA Championships May 25-30.
Augusta is only the second 12th seed ever from a regional to advance to the NCAA Championships. The Jaguars recorded their lowest score in a regional with a round-three 270 at the NCAA Raleigh Regional on May 16 and took fourth place to qualify for the finals. Augusta is making its 13th appearance in the NCAA Championships (1993, ’94, ’95, ’98, ’99, ’01, ’02, ’03, ’05, ’08, ’10, ’11, and ’18). The Jags will send senior Broc Everett, sophomore Gustav Andersson, and freshmen Alex Shead, Laken Hinton, and Olof Gunnarsson.
The 30-team field will play three days of guaranteed stroke play and the top 15 advance to a fourth day of stroke play. The top eight teams from there qualify for two days of match play. The Jags are paired with Iowa State and UCF for the first and second rounds on the par-72, 7,460-yard course. Augusta is seeded 30th and tees off at 8:50 a.m. (CST) off No. 10 on Friday for round one and at 2:10 p.m. (CST) on Saturday for round two.
Designed by Tom Fazio, Karsten Creek has hosted the NCAA Championship twice, holding the event in 2003 and 2011. Additionally, the course served as the home to the Karsten Creek Collegiate in 1996, the NCAA Central Regional in 2001, the Ping/Golfweek Preview in 2002 and 2010 and the NCAA South Central Regional in 2009 as well as the NCAA Stillwater Regional in 2016.
Fans can watch the men’s and women’s NCAA Championships live on Golf Channel exclusive pre-tournament, post-tournament, and live coverage. This will be the fourth consecutive year Golf Channel has covered the women’s and men’s championships, now held at the same venue to make it economical for TV.
