AU extends Augusta campuses’ closures until Monday, Oct. 7

Augusta University Community,

Augusta University will extend our Augusta campuses’ closures through Sunday, Oct. 6. Campus will reopen on Monday, Oct. 7.

There will be no classroom instruction during the closure. Faculty members should work with their deans and chairs to develop revised instructional plans for the semester to address missed material. Please focus on make-up strategies that ensure all necessary accreditation standards are met.

Campus residential students will be relocated to another University System of Georgia campus today. Dining services will be closed after brunch today. Residential students will receive a separate email with further instructions.

While campus is closed, anyone who is classified as an essential operations employee who can safely get to campus should report for duty. Please check with your supervisor, if you have any questions.

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene. We will rebuild together. We want to express our gratitude to all who have stepped up to help one another already, including our vending partners like Sodexo and Horizon, as well as our USG colleagues, our faculty, our staff and our students.

Our Emergency Response Team, including the Division of Facilities Services, continues to assess the evolving situation. Please continue to support one another and make safety a priority. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates as new information is available.

Russell T. Keen
President, Augusta University
