Banquet honors PFCC excellence

Held in conjunction with the annual Patient- and Family-Centered Care Conference each year is a special awards dinner, where recipients are recognized for exemplifying the standards and best practices of Patient- and Family-Centered Care. The PFCC Family Choice Awards serve as an endorsement of team members who consistently exhibit the tenets of patient- and family-centered care.  This year’s Family Choice recipients are Donald Tummons, a respiratory therapist, Rebecca Robinson, lead quality service coordinator, Susan Wise, a senior occupational therapist, and Nancy Kotti, NSQIP coordinator.

A new award this year is the PFCC IMPACT Award, which provides up to $5,000 of financial support to a PFCC initiative that is interprofessional and innovative and involves patients as part of the programming. The award is supported through the PFCC Foundation Education Fund and was presented to Dr. Lara Stepleman in support of clinical initiatives benefiting LGBTQ patients.

Carol Brody, the Magnet Program manager for Nursing, received the PFCC Ambassador Award for leadership and growth in PFCC, and Jeff Dowling, director of Rehabilitation Services, received the 2017 Patricia K. Sodomka Leadership Award. Given in memory of the late Pat Sodomka, a hospital administrator and pioneer in PFCC, the award goes to a team member who demonstrates exemplary leadership in PFCC.

Finally, the patient engagement team surprised AU Medical Center CEO Lee Ann Liska with the PFCC Partnership Award for her leadership role in partnering with teams across the organization to strengthen the quality of care and the patient experience.
