A message on Fury’s Ferry land lease in Columbia County

The following is a message that was sent out from Dr. Julian J. Nussbaum, CEO of AU Medical Associates, and Lee Ann Liska, CEO of AU Medical Center on Dec. 18:

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that Augusta University Health has signed a lease on approximately one acre of land at 587 Fury’s Ferry Road in Martinez. This property is part of our commitment to provide health care in Columbia County as well as a comprehensive ambulatory care expansion plan for 2018, which you will hear more about soon.

AU Health will provide primary care and cardiovascular services to Columbia County through a new 6,450-square-foot ambulatory care center. By increasing our presence in Columbia County and focusing on growing our primary care offerings, AU Health will be better prepared to meet the high demand of this rapidly increasing population.

If you frequently commute along Fury’s Ferry, you will likely notice an AU Health sign on the property that says “THE FUTURE OF HEALTH CARE COMING SOON.” This is a smaller version of the huge sign that was unveiled in February on the Gateway Boulevard property in Grovetown where our Columbia County Health Campus is to be built. We are still waiting on the Certificate of Need appeals process to conclude, but we are not letting this slow our expansion into Georgia’s fastest growing county.

As the only academic health center in the region, we have a definite advantage — the AU Health advantage. Put simply, we offer cutting-edge, evidence-based, and, most importantly, quality care to our patients and families. In addition, patients benefit from improved access, carefully coordinated care, and digital innovations that we bring to the community through our unique alliances with Philips, Cerner, and Beckman Coulter Danaher.

We will share more details about this exciting new opportunity, as well as other ambulatory care projects in the coming months.

Thank you for your commitment to safe, quality, patient-centric care.

Kind regards and Happy Holidays!
