Life support training for employees moves to intranet

All staff who require current certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support should note that AU Medical Center is transitioning these classes to online training modules in 2018.

Beginning Feb. 1, re-certification for BLS, ACLS, and PALS should be completed through the new Healthstream online learning system (formerly Desire 2 Learn) on PAWS. Healthstream is designed to send automated renewal notices (about 60 days out) via email to affected team members in order to promote timely renewal and compliance.

Employees should continue to sign up and take classes using the current training method until receiving an email prompting completion of the online classes in Healthstream. It will be important to check emails frequently as the system may take 2-3 weeks to load all current staff credentials and begin tracking individual certification status.

Moving this training to the intranet should improve certification maintenance and compliance, while also making testing more convenient for employees.

More information will be provided to nursing units and departments that require these classes. If you have any questions about this transition, please emailĀ Wayne Deas, manager of clinical education and the hospital’s American Heart Association Training Center coordinator, or call 706-945-2681.
