Chest Pain Center recommended for re-accreditation

Augusta University Medical Center had a successful review of its Chest Pain Center by the American College of Cardiology in late September. The hospital was recommended for full accreditation as a Cycle V CATH/PCI Chest Pain Center.

To achieve this, AUMC must meet “Door-to-Balloon” times of under 90 minutes for the previous six months. Our emergency teams work with our heart specialists to identify acute MI (myocardial infarction) patients and provide percutaneous coronary interventions.

This means the hospital is providing rapid and ready heart attack care 24/7. In fact, AUMC was the first hospital in the region to be accredited as a Chest Pain Center in 2008.
