Magazine donation challenge runs through Nov. 13

Augusta University’s VolunJAGS, the college volunteer program run through the Office of Volunteer Services and Engagement, is challenging all faculty, staff and fellow students to donate lightly used, current magazines to make a big difference for our patients and families.

These magazines will be regularly distributed in waiting rooms throughout the Medical Center in an effort to support the ongoing mission to build a more positive experience for patients while strengthening the ties between the hospital and university teams.

The Fall/Winter AU JagMag Challenge launches Oct. 6, 2017 and runs through Nov. 13. The top three departments with the most donations will earn bragging rights as well as special recognition.

Anyone interested in donating magazines can drop them off in the labeled bins in the Children’s Hospital Lobby, the 2nd floor crosswalk in the Medical Center or the Volunteer Services Office on the 2nd floor of the Kelley Administration Building, room AA-2004.

All magazine labels will be covered for your privacy prior to distribution. When donating, please put the magazines in a bag with your name and your department name on it so that all participants can be credited. Magazine donors will be provided with a thank you letter as well.

For hygiene reasons, magazines must be slick, glossy (no matte finish pages, please), and come from a smoke free home. If the magazines are entertainment or news related, they should not be more than two months old. All other magazines such as Time, HGTV, Architectural Digest, Southern Living, etc. can be up to a year old. Magazines must also be free of political, religious, and lewd themes.
