The Workforce Recruitment Program offers an additional way to connect Augusta University undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates (up to two years), with federal employers seeking candidates for internships and permanent positions.

“Students should take advantage of the program because entering the federal workforce or the federal government is very competitive,” said Keire Melson, director of Testing and Disability Services. “Advocating for students is important to give everyone equal access, and WRP helps create opportunities for students to connect with employers and access pathways that can support their career goals.”
While students are preparing for and completing the application process, on-campus resources are available through Career Services to assist with creating a federal resume, preparing for interviews, identifying professional skills and strengths and understanding the overall submission process.

Kimberly Norville, assistant director of Career Services, explains that the Workforce Recruitment Program is specifically designed to give applicants direct experience related to their major to help build basic competencies, hands-on experience and confidence.
“This opportunity gives students additional exposure to federal agencies and potential career opportunities with very little additional effort beyond what they are already doing in their career search,” said Norville. “Once students enter their information into the system, the next step is simply to be responsive if an employer reaches out by phone or email.”
Applicants can personalize their profiles by identifying their major, job field, areas of interest and preferred work location (in person versus remote).
Once applicants submit their information, their resumes are added to a database accessible to participating federal agencies and contractors for a full year. Students across all majors and professional programs are eligible to apply, as federal employment opportunities span a wide range of career fields. Previous employers participating in the program have included the departments of Defense, Labor, Agriculture, Commerce, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Justice, State, Treasury and Veterans Affairs, among other federal agencies.
Students interested in applying to the Workforce Recruitment Program are encouraged to connect with Testing and Disability Services; although, students do not have to be registered with the office to participate in the program. Applicants can register and submit their eligibility documents online through USAJobs until Oct. 4, 2026.
