The following email was sent to faculty, staff and students by the University Libraries Alma Implementation Team on Monday, May 22, 2017.
On May 26th our institution will implement a new state-wide library system. We are very excited to reach this milestone. We expect this effort to provide a richer experience for all of our patrons. However, in the week leading up to our cut-over, those requesting access to materials will experience changes to familiar processes. If you encounter any difficulties or concerns during this period, please reach out to the University Libraries through our Ask a Librarian service.
As a reminder, the most immediate effects of this project will be a new interface to our catalog. On May 26th at 7 a.m., the URLs to both previous instances of our catalog, gilfind.augusta.edu and gil.augusta.edu, will be redirected to our new catalog interface.
Below are several updates regarding the progress of our implementation:
- Online training and tutorials for the new system are currently available. The University Libraries will be offering in-person demonstrations during the weeks of June 5 and June 12. Stay tuned for additional details.
- As a reminder, upon implementation of the new system, our patrons will be able to utilize their JagNet ID and password for authenticating into our new catalog interface.
- GIL Express (USG community borrowing) was paused on May 5th and will resume on May 26th.
We are extremely excited to provide this new experience to our patrons. Please be patient during our cut-over activities as well as during our initial go-live period. While there will likely be some issues, we have plans in place to resolve items as quickly as possible.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Brenda Seago, director of Libraries at bseago@augusta.edu or Rod Bustos, assistant director for Library Systems at rbustos2@augusta.edu.
Thank you again for your partnership and collaboration on this endeavor.
Sincerely,
The University Libraries Alma Implementation Team
