Wear red Friday, Feb. 4 to bring awareness to cardiovascular disease in women

This Friday, February 4, is National Wear Red Day, and Augusta University and Augusta University Health are stepping up to bring awareness to the issue of heart disease in women. Although most heart disease and stroke deaths are preventable, cardiovascular diseases continue to be a woman’s greatest health threat.

“Going Red” is as easy as putting on a red ribbon, a red tie, or a red dress pin to show support.

To further support heart health in the CSRA, Augusta University community members are encouraged to participate in the 2022 Heart Walk on March 12 at SRP Park.

Register for the walk online:

  1. Join or create a team on the Heart Walk website.
  2. Add a photo and update your profile message.
  3. Consider committing a personal gift.
  4. Share the fundraiser with friends and family via email and social media. (Facebook and social media fundraisers must be started through your Heart Walk account to count for your campaign.)
  5. Email the American Heart Association with questions.

The American Heart Association has funded over $30 million in research in the CSRA alone in the last 6 years, including research through AU and AU Health. The AHA’s research, advocacy and education efforts are making a difference in our community’s health and beyond.
