Visiting sculptor to give artist’s talk

Artist and sculptor, Judy Onofrio will present an artist’s talk on Thursday, March 30 at noon in University Hall room 247.

A mixed-media artist, Onofrio has been creating work for more than fifty years. Over the course of the past five decades, Onofrio has utilized many mediums, including jewelry, ceramic sculpture, large-scale installations and fire performances.  Her current medium of choice is bone sculpture.

Throughout the course of her career, Onofrio has won several awards. These include: the Rochester Art Center Lifetime Achievement Award, the Minnesota Crafts Council Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also received grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Bush Foundation. In 2005, Onofrio was the recipient of the McKnight Foundation Distinguished Minnesota Artists award. This award recognized her for her contributions, both as an artist and educator, to the state of Minnesota.
