Travel to the heart of NATO’s Cyber Defense Efforts in Summer ’18

A new Augusta University study abroad program is looking to send students to the heart of NATO’s cyber defense efforts.

The Estonia Political Science trip, which takes place from May 26 – June 2, 2018, will familiarize students with Tallinn, Estonia — the site of one of the world’s first cyber attacks. In 2007, Russia coordinated a cyber attack in retaliation against Estonia, likely as an act of revenge for the Estonian government’s moving of the “Bronze Soldier of Tallinn,” a Soviet era World War II memorial.

During the trip, students will attend a three-day conference at NATO’s Cooperaive Cyber Defense Center of Excellence and receive instruction on several strategic level cybersecurity-related topics.

The application deadline for the trip is Oct. 20. The trip costs $2500 plus tuition and class fees. A deposit of $200 is required for all attendees. The deposit deadline is Dec. 1, 2017.

All students interested in participating in the 2018 Estonia Political Science trip must fill out an interest application and return it via email to Dr. John Heslen no later than 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 20.
