Throughout the semester, the Office of Faculty Development and Teaching Excellence recognizes and awards faculty members for being “Caught in the Act of Great Teaching.” Hundreds of nominations come in from students and faculty, and each month two winners are chosen.
The Summerville Campus winner for September was Dr. William A. Bloodworth Jr., president emeritus of Augusta State University.
A student nomination read, “Wearing a cowboy hat, holding a cow brander and grinning from ear to ear, Dr. Bloodworth entered my history class one day excited to share his love of history with his students.”
The Health Science Campus winner for October was Dr. Jessica Smith Schwind.
“She is one of the most dynamic professors I have ever had,” a student nominator said. “I say that sincerely.”
And the Summerville Campus winner for October was Dr. Craig Albert.
“He goes above and beyond for the education of his students,” a very thankful student of Albert said
Three more faculty members will be awarded in the Fall 2015 semester. Nominations are continuously accepted and greatly appreciated.
