Outstanding faculty recognized at Spring Faculty Assembly

The annual Spring Faculty Assembly took place March 14 from 5:30‐7:30 p.m at the J. Harold Harrison, M.D. Education Commons.

Over 70 people attended the event. At the assembly, college deans or associate deans recognized those in their college being presented as outstanding faculty and also recognized their faculty retirees. Outstanding faculty members from the Medical College of Georgia will be named later.

Two awards were also presented:

The Louis K. Bell Research Award was presented to Lufei Young, PhD, RN, APRN-NP, associate professor in the Department of Physiological and Technological Nursing in the College of Nursing.

The purpose of this annual award is to recognize outstanding contributions in the areas of research and publication by a faculty member in one of the colleges or libraries associated with the Summerville or Forest Hills Campuses.

The Richard S. Wallace Distinguished Service Award was presented to Melissa Powell-Williams, PhD, professor in the Department of Social Sciences in the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

In honor of President Richard S. Wallace, who succeeded George A. Christenberry as president of Augusta College in 1986, Bill and Naomi Monge established an endowment to support this award to be given to a faculty member from one of the colleges or libraries associated with the Summerville or Forest Hills Campuses who has given distinguished service to Augusta University, the students and the community.
