Augusta University’s first Christmas Tree lighting

What: This year’s Christmas tree lighting at Augusta University will be a night of firsts. Not only will it be Dr. Brooks Keel’s first as president, it will also be the very first tree lighting in the history of Augusta University, which legally adopted its new name today.

Background: Festivities include taking photos with Santa, caroling with the Augusta University choir and brass band and riding a trolley across campus. The event will also feature holiday crafts, food trucks, refreshments and, weather permitting, an outdoor screening of the movie “Elf.” Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy fo r donation.

When and where: 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, History Walk beside the Maxwell Theatre on the Summerville Campus.
