Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 3

invite picThis year’s Christmas tree lighting on the Summerville Campus will be a night of firsts.

Not only will it be Dr. Brooks Keel’s first as president, it will also be the very first tree lighting in the history of Augusta University, which will legally adopt its new name on Dec. 1, two days before the tree lighting.

Festivities include food trucks, caroling with the Augusta University choir and brass band, trolley rides across campus, holiday crafts, refreshments and, weather permitting, an outdoor screening of the movie “Elf.”

And for those who have been good this year, Santa has cleared some time in his busy schedule to make a personal appearance.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, on the History Walk beside the Maxwell Theatre. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation.
