Fall semester begins Aug. 15 and Augusta University is excited to welcome Jaguars back to the start of a new academic year.
Most notably, AU is eager to welcome the new incoming freshman during the annual Freshman Convocation on Tuesday, Aug. 14.
The Class of 2022, this year’s incoming class, will enjoy a day of fun, food and reflection during the university’s official welcome. The class theme for 2022 is “Collegiality,” and the event will include a speaker who will helps to provide some thoughts about incorporating this theme into one’s college life.
The event will include a special ‘pinning ceremony’ and an official class photo. Freshmen will also receive a t-shirt and have the opportunity to listen to leaders discuss AU values.
Following the photo, President Brooks Keel and Provost Gretchen Caughman will host the annual President’s Picnic, where students will have the opportunity to learn more about Augusta University while meeting future professors in a relaxed and informal setting.
The purpose of the AU Freshman Convocation is to establish an academic connection between first-time freshman students and Augusta University. The ceremony fulfills this purpose by recognizing our new AU new students and emphasizing our commitment to their academic success.
