Keel to be inaugurated as first president of Augusta University

The inaugural celebration and investiture of Augusta University’s first president, Brooks A. Keel, is Wednesday, April 27.

The event will begin with a welcome and introduction from Augusta University Provost Gretchen Caughman, followed by remarks from Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis and representatives of the university community. Gov. Nathan Deal and University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby will then lead a formal ceremony to confer presidential authority and rank to Keel, who will conclude the event with an inaugural address.

Ceremony begins at 2 p.m. at the Augusta Convention Center. Learn more or watch a live stream of the event online.

Media should arrive at 1:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Augusta Convention Center; parking is available in the adjacent deck. Photo and video opportunities will be available. Keel will not be available for interviews but high-resolution interview footage will be made available following the event.
