Augusta University took part in the annual Tri-College Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration with Augusta Technical College and Paine College.

Augusta University President Brooks A. Keel, PhD, was joined by Augusta Tech President Jermaine Whirl, PhD, and Paine College President Cheryl Evans Jones, PhD, to celebrate the occasion. Augusta mayor and AU alum Garnett Johnson and other local dignitaries were on hand for the celebration.

This year’s keynote speaker was Otis S. Johnson, PhD, whose decades-long career spanned public service and academia.

Martin Luther King Jr. would have been 95 years old on Jan. 15.
