Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Augusta University radiology resident Skon Nazarian was determined to find a way to help his hometown in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
So, he rented a U-Haul moving van in hopes of filling it with donations. Together with the Department of Radiology and Imaging at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, Nazarian made arrangements to collect donations at the entrance to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia on August 31 and September 1. On Sept. 1, Nazarian will leave Augusta for Texas.
Nazarian is collecting donations for both people and animals. Needed donations for humans include:
- wheel chairs
- baby diapers
- hygiene products
- nonperishable food items
- bottled water
- baby formula
- pillows
- hand sanitizer
- socks
- towels
- Dawn dish soap
- vinegar
Needed donations for animals include:
- blankets
- dog food
- cat food
- leashes
- collars
- harnesses
All donations can be dropped off from 1 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 at the entrance to Children’s Hospital of Georgia, 1446 Harper St., Augusta, Ga. Learn more about Nazarian’s efforts and how you can help at GoFundMe.
