Congratulations are in order for the awardees of the Pilot Study Research Program (PSRP) awards from the June 15, 2015 submission. A budget of $150,000 was available for FY16.
This program was created to assist faculty with gathering pilot data and strengthening their proposals for new initiatives that will subsequently lead to new external grants. Clinical and translational research between colleagues, colleges and universities are encouraged.
The grant review process was two tiered.
- Peer reviewers from faculty within the university were obtained and they presented summary statements and scored the proposals based on the NIH review criterion.
- A core group which consisted of a smaller group of six reviewed the review statements, scores and proposals and ranked the proposals to ensure that the proposals with the best scores aligned with the responsiveness to the program and potential to result in a funded research project.
Twenty-one applications were submitted and six were awarded and they are:
All of the awardees are to be congratulated. In addition, those individuals who did not receive funding will hopefully benefit from the Summary Statements. Resubmission of unfunded applications are encouraged if the research teams feel they can adequately address the questions, issues, etc. raised in the critiques.
