Augusta University is celebrating its spring, summer and fall graduates this week.
The university is proud to present the commencement ceremony as a live webcast. View all three ceremonies Friday, Dec. 11.
Bailey Askew has proudly earned a bachelor’s degree in art with a concentration in graphic design from the Department of Art and Design in Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
“My name is Christopher Bailey Askew, but everyone just calls me Bailey. I am an art major with a concentration in graphic design. A few of my extracurriculars would be designing flyers for local bands, but also recently experimenting with 3-D printing.”
“My favorite spot on campus would be the print lab in Washington Hall. Even though I am not a print major, it is always nice to unwind there and relax to some music while I work on different projects.”
“A few gems I have learned as a student is that it’s OK to fail in life. Even if it seems hard, in retrospect, it isn’t the end of the world. Try your best to understand the information and if you want to get better, do your best.”
“I look forward to starting a career in my field. I’m trying to work right now and I am most excited to get married in two years. I’ve found someone special and I am really looking forward to our wedding.”
“My favorite thing about JagNation would be the friendliness that they bring to everyone. It gives everyone an opportunity to participate and join in to make memories.”
“I’ve made my mark on campus by trying to be a fun guy to be around. I always try to let my humor make people smile. Some of my close friends from school know I’m trying to make people laugh, but I also give a lot and try to be there for them as well.”
“An average thing someone wouldn’t guess about me is that I am a huge nerd. I love comics of all varieties, but I am a big fan of the Eastern-style culture found in Japan and China. I love the art styles and action-packed comics they both bring.”
“I usually spend my time with close friends and we play different video games together. Some friends I have played with for almost a decade. It’s a time to relax, which also allows me to plan different art pieces and plan for Dungeons and Dragons.”
“I would credit my family members. Of those, I would say my brothers Charlie and Clayton have been very supportive and proud of my art. I would also love to say I owe a lot to my grandparents, who have raised me and gave me a lot in life, so I could be here as a graduate. I’m lucky and proud to have a loving family who support me.”
“You are going to come to different crossroads of what you want to be, but, as corny as it sounds, it is better if you do what makes you happy. You can navigate all life seeking a dollar, but what makes college worth it is the ability to shape yourself and discover who you are. Enjoy.”
