Good news about Columbia County hospital Certificate of Need

The following email was distributed by Shawn Vincent, vice president of Partnerships, International Healthcare and Strategic Affiliations:

Dear Colleagues,

As you may recall, we were quite fortunate to start our Thanksgiving celebration a day early last year when on Nov. 26 we learned that Georgia Regents Medical Center was granted a Certificate of Need to build a high-touch, high-tech hospital in Columbia County.

Today, we have more good news to share. We just received notice that the Commissioner of DCH has issued a final order awarding the CON to GRMC to build a 100-bed hospital in Grovetown. This action exhausts the appeals at the DCH level.

This is another major victory for the citizens of Columbia County and surrounding communities who eagerly await a hospital that they can call their own.

As we begin this week of Thanksgiving, we want to acknowledge the role in this project that each of you has played. Whether working to create our original proposal, writing letters of endorsement, or sharing our plans with your colleagues and friends, each part contributed to the whole.

We couldn’t have gotten this far without the hard work and input from so many of you, and for this, we are truly thankful.

We are almost there.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Shawn P. Vincent, Sr.
Vice President of Partnerships, International Healthcare and Strategic Affiliations
