Georgia plays a huge part in keeping data safe

Did you know that 70% of all payment transactions are handled in Atlanta? Georgia is also a major internet access point for the Southeast, the Caribbean and part of South America. Not only that, Fort Gordon is home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command and the National Security Agency’s Augusta cryptologic center, and the state has given $93 million towards the construction of the new cyber range, the Hull McKnight Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center. Georgia plays a huge part in keeping data safe.

“The state’s cyber range will educate up to 500 students at a time,” says Michael Shaffer, Augusta University’s executive vice president of strategic partnerships and economic development. “In cyber, it is a constant learning. You never stop learning, and when new platforms and new things come out, you have to go back and get additional training.”
