Georgia Cancer Center partners with Athletics to raise awareness for Unite in the Fight fundraiser

The Georgia Cancer Center and Augusta University Athletics have teamed up to support Unite in the Fight Against Cancer with three action-packed baseball and softball games.

Unite in the Fight Against Cancer is a walk that celebrates and honors all who have been impacted by the disease. It will be held March 19 at the Bank of America Plaza on Augusta University’s Health Sciences Campus. Since 2018, this event has raised over $190,000 to support the Georgia Cancer Center’s patient programs, education and new standards of care.

“We are thrilled to be supporting such a great cause again this year,” said Chris Howell, head baseball coach. Last year, the baseball team held their cancer awareness game in support of prostate cancer.

Augusta University’s baseball and softball teams will be playing their games on Feb. 12. The baseball team’s game against University of Virginia’s College at Wise will begin at noon, while the softball team’s games against Francis Marion University will begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

All three games will be held at Christenberry Fieldhouse and there is no price for admission. For additional information, visit Augusta University’s Athletics website.
