Free HIV testing for World AIDS Day

WHAT: World AIDS Day is held on Dec. 1 to unite people worldwide in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. Free rapid HIV testing and an HIV info table will be offered on the Augusta University campus this year in recognition of World AIDS Day.

WHEN: 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Jaguar Student Activities Center, Summerville Campus, 2500 Walton Way

BACKGROUND: World AIDS Day events are being presented as a collaborative effort from the Augusta University Ryan White Program, Augusta University Student Health Services, Georgia Department of Public Health, Angelic Community Resource Development, Antioch Baptist Church, St. Stephens Ministry, Inc., and Walgreens with the aim of increasing community involvement by pooling resources. A Red Ribbon Gala will also be held at the Marion Hatcher Center Dec. 2 and an AIDS Walk, including free testing, will be held Dec. 10 at the Lucy C. Laney Memorial Stadium.
