The Impact of Smartphone Use on Brain Function in Adolescence: A Scoping Review

Background/Objectives: The proportion of teenagers with access to a smartphone has reached 89 percent, marking a large increase in access to technology. Adolescence is a period of neuroplasticity where functional, structural, and systemic changes occur. Teenagers have experienced more persistent feelings of sadness and suicidality in recent years than ever before. Given the changes in this generation of adolescents and because adolescence is a period of neuroplasticity, this study seeks to understand the effects of smartphone use in adolescence.

Holistic admissions criteria are one strategy to be more inclusive of students with a variety of experiences, cultures, and beliefs. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between holistic admissions criteria and occupational therapy program ranking. We used a retrospective cross-sectional cohort descriptive study design of occupational therapy programs in the United States to understand whether top performing programs employ holistic admissions criteria.
Investigating student and faculty perspectives related to predictors of NCLEX-RN success: A mixed methods approach

Understanding predictors to NCLEX-RN success is imperative to facilitate outcomes and provide nurses to meet the critical hiring demands in healthcare. A lack of understanding exists as to why certain students struggle academically and on the licensure exam. Consideration for why students struggle with program studies and NCLEX-RN success are needed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that contribute to student difficulty passing the NCLEX-RN on first attempt. This study utilized a concurrent embedded mixed methods design to investigate factors that may contribute to student performance.
