Biography
Rob Willson, MD, MPH is an orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine, who is a native of Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Willson started his education at The University of Georgia where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and a Master's Degree in Public Health. He attended medical school at The Medical College of Georgia followed by 6 years of post-doctoral training in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He trained at the prestigious University of Connecticut Sports Medicine Fellowship and continues a relationship with the program as he continues to practice in Augusta. Within his specialty of Sports Medicine, Dr. Willson has specific areas of interest in shoulder instability, ligament reconstruction and care of the overhead athlete. His research has been presented at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as The New England Shoulder and Elbow Society meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Willson holds operative privileges at Augusta University Medical Center and Surgery Center of Columbia County.
