Biography
Isaac Brinberg is a committed musician who pursues artistry with passion and creates meaningful connections with collaborators, students, and audiences. He currently serves as the Wind Ensemble Director and Tuba Instructor at Augusta University. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Band Conducting at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to Illinois, Dr. Brinberg received his Master of Music in Wind Conducting at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory and earned his Bachelor of Music Education with a Minor in Wind Conducting from Indiana University. Dr. Brinberg has presented at the CBDNA National and several CBDNA Division conferences, the College Music Society Great Plains Regional Conference, and has given multiple virtual presentations through the CBDNA webinar series. His scholarship has been published in the Journal of Band Research, WASBE Journal, NBA Journal and has contributed to The Instrumentalist, School Band and Orchestra Magazine, The SC Musician, Georgia Music News, and The Collective. Dr. Brinberg is an active tuba performer and teacher in the area, in demand as a guest conductor and clinician, and is a member of CBDNA, GMEA and a Lifetime Member of Kappa Kappa Psi, Nu Xi Chapter. In 2025, Isaac was recognized by Georgia Trend Magazine as a Top 40 Under 40 Honoree and by Augusta Magazine as a Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch. Isaac is a member of the Columbia County Rotary Club of Georgia, Webb Lodge No. 166 F. & A.M, and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Augusta. He and his wife Jen love to cook, volunteer for Make-A-Wish Georgia, and both serve on the board for the Young Professionals of Augusta. Together, they co-write Chews and News, a food and lifestyle blog that highlights all the amazing offerings of Augusta’s River Region!

The ceremony began with the pledge of allegiance and a Toast to the Flag by Christopher AC Wiley, PhD, U.S. Army retired. Under the direction of Isaac Brinberg, DMA, AU’s Wind Ensemble played several patriotic tunes, including Comrades of the Legion, in which each branch of the military was recognized.

Isaac Brinberg Age: 32 Brinberg leads the wind ensemble, directs the pep band, teaches applied tuba and euphonium lessons, teaches coursework in music education, conducts research and serves on several committees. Additionally, he is the administrator for the Augusta University Concert Band Festival. He is a Provost Learning Scholar and helped bring the region’s District Honor Band event to campus in 2025, which coalesced nearly 300 middle and high school students for a significant music enrichment opportunity.
