Alumni, family and friends of The Dental College of Georgia will gather on April 26 at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center to commemorate the college’s 50th anniversary. The festivities are part of Augusta University’s 2019 Alumni Weekend being held April 25-28.

The celebration will begin at 8 a.m. with the 41st Annual Dr. Marvin C. Goldstein Lecture Series and Luncheon honoring the 2019 Distinguished Alumnus and Outstanding Young Alumnus. The 50th Anniversary celebration continues with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner honoring the college’s first graduating class, emeriti faculty and distinguished alumni.

“It’s humbling to reflect on how far we’ve come as a college,” said Dr. Carol Lefebvre, dean of The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. “We have had the distinction of being the state’s sole dental school for many years now. We are proud to have blazed the path for so many deserving men and women, realizing early that the only criteria for excellent dentists are a curious mind, a steady set of hands and a good heart.”

Established in 1969, The Dental College of Georgia remains committed to their mission of teaching, patient care, research and service. As Georgia’s only dental college, the DCG provides instruction and training for nearly 400 dental students and more than 65 residents a year.

More Alumni Weekend activities are scheduled throughout the weekend, and events include the annual President’s Cookout, Alumni Weekend After-Party and campus tours.
