“The concert formerly known as Jazz at the G” continues its impressive lineup of jazz artists on Saturday, May 7 , when five-time Grammy awarding winning bassist Christian McBride brings his trio to the D. Douglas Barnard Jr. Amphitheatre for a 8 p.m. concert.
Joining McBride will be the James Brown Academy of Musik Pupils (JAMP) and Trey McLaughlin.
Known for playing “people music,” McBride is an accessible jazz artist who is not caught up by definitions.
“People Music is my personal mantra as a musician,” he says. “Sometimes, jazz musicians get so serious and so caught up in their creativity that they’re not bringing people in. So I figure the best way to communicate is to let the people navigate where you should go.”
Tickets are available at the Maxwell Theatre Box Office and online at augusta.universitytickets.com. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for active duty military and Augusta University faculty and staff, $5 for children and students and free to Augusta University students with a valid JagCard.
In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the Maxwell Theatre.
