Caughman hosts Fall Kick-Off this morning

The beginning of the new academic year is just days away, and the annual Fall Kick-Off gives faculty and interested staff the perfect opportunity to start the year off right.

Doors will open 8:30 a.m. and the Kick-Off will start at 9 a.m. at the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre on the Summerville Campus. Thanks to live streaming, even our remote campuses will be able to participate.

According to Dr. Gretchen Caughman, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, the event is an opportunity to reflect on the privilege of educating and motivating Augusta University students.

“The Fall Kick Off is a chance for us to welcome new colleagues, celebrate the important milestones and accomplishments of the last year and hear what’s on the horizon for us as a university in the upcoming year,” she said.

Light refreshments will be provided following the program and several exhibitors will be on hand, including the JagStore, which will be promoting its “JagCompare” textbook price comparison site.

Representatives from the IGIVE campaign will also be available with pledge cards for those who can’t make it to the Grove for the Summerville IGIVE Kickoff, and staff from Volunteers Services and Engagement will also be there to talk about volunteer opportunities including Day of Service.
