Monday, Jan. 26, 5 p.m. – Campus operations return to normal on Tuesday, Jan. 27
With improved weather and road conditions across the CSRA, all Augusta campuses will resume normal operations on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Those at regional clinical campuses should follow the guidance provided by their deans.

Saturday, Jan. 24, 3 p.m. – AU campuses to be closed on Sunday, Jan. 25 and Monday, Jan. 26
Protecting the safety of our AU community remains the university’s top priority. Forecasts for our area continue to indicate the potential for freezing rain or mixed precipitation this weekend.
Plan for Sunday and Monday operations
Out of an abundance of caution, and due to the potential for ice on roadways, campus will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 25 and Monday, Jan. 26. All classes and all in-person activities are canceled.
Residence halls will remain open for students who live on campus; students will receive additional details regarding transportation and dining from Housing and Residence Life. Atrium Dining will be open for brunch 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Faculty should work with their department chairs and deans to ensure missed instructional content is covered during the semester to ensure course continuity.
Augusta University employees who are considered essential personnel should follow the guidance provided by their supervisors.
Students and faculty with clinical responsibilities will receive additional information from their leadership. Those at regional clinical campuses should follow the guidance provided by their deans.
Plan for Sunday operations
Additionally, all student-support buildings on campus, including Greenblatt Library, Reese Library, the Campus Recreation Center and the Jaguar Student Activities Center, will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 25.
Adjustments to shuttle operations will be updated on the PassioGo website and the app.

Friday, Jan. 23, 2:30 p.m. – Campus leadership continues to monitor weather
Forecasts for our area continue to indicate the potential for freezing rain or mixed precipitation this weekend. Protecting the safety of our AU community remains the university’s top priority.
University leadership is continuing to assess conditions and will provide daily updates to students, faculty and staff regarding campus operations. Those at regional clinical campuses should follow the guidance provided by their deans.
What to expect:
- Friday and Saturday: Increasing cloud cover and rain likely, with cooling temps.
- Saturday and Sunday: Strong potential for rain changing to freezing rain and mixed precipitation as temperatures drop – this can make roads and sidewalks slippery
AU operations:
- Students: Classes and operations as usual Saturday and Sunday. Residence halls will remain open and Atrium Dining will be open for brunch 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
- Faculty and staff: Classes and operations as usual Saturday and Sunday. Prepare for the possibility of remote work should weather conditions make working remotely necessary, as confirmed through official university communications. Please direct all questions to your supervisors.
- Wellstar MCG, MCG and DCG clinicians and specialists: Follow the guidance provided by your supervisors.

Local weather conditions are fair and cold early this week, but forecast models show increasing chances of rain and wintry precipitation this weekend – including rain turning into freezing rain or mixed precipitation. That could impact driving, walking on campus paths and travel plans.
What to expect:
- Wednesday through Thursday: Cool days with highs in the 50s and 60s and mostly dry conditions – a great window of time to get errands and plans done.
- Friday and Saturday: Increasing cloud cover and rain likely, with cooler temps.
- Weekend: Strong potential for rain changing to freezing rain and mixed precipitation as temperatures drop – this can make roads and sidewalks slippery.
Any decision to alter campus operations will be made and communicated by campus administrators to the appropriate students, faculty and staff. The safety of our AU community is the top priority for university leadership.
What you can do now:

- Map out travel plans before conditions worsen
- Fill up your car with gas – avoid last-minute stops in bad weather
- Grab or layer cold-weather gear (coats, gloves, hats)
- Let friends/family know your plans – especially if traveling
- Ensure that you have 3 days of water and non-perishable food
Safety on campus and around town:
- Watch for slick spots on sidewalks and parking lots if temperatures drop
- Allow extra time to get to class or work – roads may get wet or icy

- Consider the need to cancel plans and limit travel if driving conditions are icy
