BuzzFeed News: Universities — and textbooks — are going digital

A new BuzzFeed News article tackles student questions about the cost of accessing digital textbooks. At Augusta University, however, professors like Dr. David Hunt are using online texts without requiring students to buy access to a learning program that controls the class assignments.

“I try to make things as inexpensive as possible,” Hunt, associate professor of sociology, told BuzzFeed News. “[The online systems] may make my life a lot easier but I feel like I’m giving up control. The discussions are the things where my expertise can benefit the students most.”
