BuzzFeed: Gun sales have not spiked under Trump administration

As a result of a method developed by Jurgen Brauer, an economist at Augusta University, and the research consultancy Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting, BuzzFeed News was able to create a chart comparing estimated gun sales with mass shootings. Using estimated gun sales from the FBI’s monthly figures on background checks, the chart suggests that gun sales proved to spike more under the Obama administration than under Trump.

When speaking on the trends in gun sales, Brauer said, “As soon as there’s the threat of legislation, even in particular states, you see the background checks spike.”
