A special issue of the Journal of the American College of Radiology explores radiology patient engagement from the patient perspective. Original articles provide valuable insights to help radiologists make the care they provide more patient-centered.
“This issue is a first for the Journal of the American College of Radiology: Patients, caregivers and advocates serve as co-authors or reviewers, in other words, co-producers of meaningful content,” said Dr. James V. Rawson, chair of the American College of Radiology Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care and chair of the Radiology Department at Augusta University. “Radiologists are redefining health care delivery; we are innovating, improving and delivering value to the doctor-patient relationship,” he added.
On an operational level, there are many opportunities for individual radiologists, practices, hospitals or radiology professional societies to improve the patient experience, according to issue’s introduction, Patient- and Family-Centered Care: Why Radiology?, which is co-written by Rawson. Several Augusta University experts contributed to the articles in this special issue. Here are links to other articles on PFCC in the December issue of the JACR:
