| University operations and scheduled activities remain unchanged at this time. Augusta University is closely monitoring Hurricane Isaias and its potential effects on our campuses. Earlier today, Oct. 8, Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency for all 159 Georgia counties ahead of the storm. Rain, gusty winds and possible thunderstorms are forecast for the Augusta area this weekend, Friday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 11. Conditions may change as the storm’s track becomes clearer. We will continue to assess potential impacts and communicate any changes to university operations. Students, faculty and staff at regional campuses should follow guidance from their campus leadership and local emergency officials, as conditions may differ by location. Regardless of the forecast, it is always good practice to review preparedness plans: Departments: Review continuity of operations plans, verify key contact information and confirm arrangements to maintain essential functions if a disruption occurs. Individuals and families: Charge electronic devices, check emergency supplies and review communication plans. Consider the needs of pets and family members who may require assistance. Any updates to campus operations will be posted here. Also, please verify your JagAlert contact information, including your mobile number, so you can receive emergency text alerts. Thank you for taking these steps to help keep our university community prepared. |
