R.A.D. training for women is returning to Augusta University

The Augusta University Police Department is providing four R.A.D. sessions that will take place throughout the rest of the year for female students, faculty and staff.

The R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques that is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts against various types of assault.

This 12-hour course will begin with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, but will also teach basic hands-on defense tactics. The sessions are all paid for by the AUPD and are for women only. R.A.D. dates are as follows:

Session One

1-4 p.m. in the Wellness Center, 2nd Floor Room 2021 on:

  • Friday, August 31, 2018
  • Friday, September 7, 2018
  • Friday, September 14, 2018
  • Friday, September 21, 2018
Session Two

5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center banquet room on:

  • Wednesday, September 26, 2018
  • Wednesday, October 3, 2018
  • Wednesday, October 10, 2018
  • Wednesday, October 17, 2018
Session Three

1-4 p.m. in the JSAC Coffee House, second floor on:

  • Monday, October 8, 2018
  • Wednesday, October 17, 2018
  • Wednesday, October 24, 2018
  • Wednesday, October 31, 2018
Session Four

1-4 p.m. in the Alumni Center banquet room on:

  • Friday, November 2, 2018
  • Friday, November 9, 2018
  • Friday, November 16, 2018
  • Friday, November 30, 2018
