Media Advisory for Friday, Feb. 5
Students and faculty from The Dental College of Georgia and College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University will provide free dental care for nearly 125 local children.
The annual event is part of a national initiative to offer free oral health screenings and treatments to underserved children. The Give Kids a Smile program, launched nationally by the American Dental Association in 2003, has provided more than 5 million children with free oral health care. In Augusta, more than 100 students and a dozen faculty members and residents will volunteer to provide cleanings, sealants, and restorative dental treatment to children screened from Rollins Elementary School, Heritage Academy, New Holland Mennonite School, and the university’s Healthy Grandparents program, among others.
9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5 at the Dental College of Georgia, 1430 John Wesley Gilbert Dr.
