Apply now for student commencement speaker, soloist opportunities for spring commencement

The Student Government Association is accepting applications for student speakers and soloists to represent the graduating classes for the Spring 2023 commencement ceremonies. Commencement ceremonies will take place on May 11 and May 12.

Applications are due March 17.

Six students will be selected for these positions, two students (one speaker, one soloist) for the Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony and four students (one soloist and speaker for each ceremony) between the two Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies. The graduate hooding and commencement student speaker will give the invocation during the ceremony and the undergraduate student speaker will give remarks on behalf of the graduating class.

The student soloists selected will lead the singing of the National Anthem as well as the Augusta University Alma Mater during their respective ceremony.

Interested graduating students must complete the application form and upload an audition video to the respective links provided below. Students applying for the commencement soloist must submit a video audition of National Anthem in Bb Major (starting on the pitch “F”) and the AU Alma Mater in FM. Please also include why you wish to be the student soloist, and any experiences that you have had performing solos or in a vocal ensemble in front of an audience of about 2,500.

This information is also available on the commencement website. Click on the “Meet your Speakers” tab on the top of the page to access this information.
