3 tips for winning big during heart walk

While the Heart Walk provides GRU and GRHealth staff the opportunity to give back to the American Heart Association, it also gives a chance to win prizes.

AHA, as well as various departments within GRU and GRHealth, will award prizes to top fundraisers. Regarding AHA prizes, all individuals who raise at least $100 will receive a free AHA T-shirt before the event, and other prizes will be awarded based on the amount raised. AHA will also run weekly email contents; prizes range from gift certificates to passes for local activities. In order to receive these, staff must opt in during online registration.

Those who are interested in giving back to the organization that gave more than $7 million to GRU in research funding in 2014, making us eighth in the nation, and winning prizes by doing so, read the following three tips:

1. If you haven’t received communication from your team captain, please email kschulte@gru.edu. Your team captain should register your team at csraheartwalk.org and send directions for creating a webpage.
2. Personalize your webpage by adding pictures and content. Those who have personalized webpages raise four times more money than those who don’t have personalized webpages.
3. Share your webpage on your personal social media platforms, and ask your friends to donate!

The Heart Walk will take place March 7 at the North Augusta Greeneway. However, fundraising efforts will continue across campus until April 10.
