University Libraries to implement new state-wide library system

The following message was originally sent by the The University Libraries Alma Implementation Team to Augusta University faculty, staff and students on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017.

Over the past year, the University Libraries have been actively engaged in an effort to implement a new statewide library system which includes the catalog used to find books, journals and other library materials either here at AU or from other University System of Georgia institutions. As users of our libraries, the most noticeable effects of this project will be a new interface to our catalog. This change over is expected to occur on May 26.
Additional information will be provided periodically over the next few months to provide further details regarding this transition. However, here are a few items to note:

  • Library users will be able to login to view current checkouts, fines and requests via the JagNet credentials already used for email, D2L and other systems.
  • Library users will continue to have access to GIL Express, the service offered at all libraries within the University System of Georgia. As before, all current AU students, faculty, and staff are eligible to borrow available materials from all USG libraries via GIL Express. The new system, however, will work differently and these changes will be detailed in upcoming communications.
  • Demonstrations and training opportunities will be available as we get closer to the implementation date.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Brenda Seago, director of Libraries, or Rod Bustos, assistant director for Library Systems.

Sincerely,
The University Libraries Alma Implementation Team
