J. Harold Harrison, M.D. Education Commons featured at AAMC Annual Meeting

The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University was accepted for inclusion at Learn Serve Lead 2016: The AAMC Annual Meeting (Nov. 11-15) to present during the meeting’s “Designing Education Space Today to Meet the Needs of Tomorrow” session.

Hosted by the Association of American Medical Colleges, Learn Serve Lead is an annual meeting designed to bring together members of the medical college community for discussions related to the continued growth and expansion of medical schools and teaching hospitals.

MCG was one of three member institutions profiled for the design session which highlighted different types of innovative, forward-thinking educational spaces. Preference was given to institutions who featured creative, low-cost solutions in educational space design, evidence-based design and flexible spaces designed to evolve over time.

The presentation video (see above) featured current MCG students and MCG Dean, Dr. Peter Buckley, discussing issues related to the construction and planning of the J. Harold Harrison, M.D. Education Commons. Discussion topics included project identification, space planning and ways for educators and learners to best use the space provided.
