Augusta University, the Augusta University Lyceum Series and the Confucius Institute will present a special performance by the Peking Acrobats on March 4, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre.
Known throughout the world for their daring maneuvers and indescribable stage presence, the Peking Acrobats are some of China’s most gifted acrobats. Now celebrating their 30th anniversary, the group, which features actor Qin Shaobo (Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve), is coming to Augusta for a very special off-tour showing.
Dr. Cindi Chance, director of the Confucius Institute, said there’s no experience quite like seeing the Peking Acrobats in action.
“These men and women are the best of the best throughout China,” she said. “This show is a wonderful opportunity for our students to see an internationally recognized production performed by true masters of their craft.”
And Chance isn’t alone in her excitement.
The New York Times raves, “In their graceful efforts, these brightly costumed tumblers, acrobats, cyclists, jugglers and clever clowns provide 90 minutes of family fun that infuses springtime … with an extra measure of joy.”
The New York Post claims, “The things these kids can do before breakfast seem to push the envelope of human possibility. If daring and dexterity turn you on, this is a show that will probably twist you around in your seat.”
Tickets to see the Peking Acrobats are on sale now in the Maxwell Theatre Box Office.
The cost is $15 for the general public, $10 for alumni and military, and $5 for children, students and Augusta University faculty and staff. Students with a valid JagCard get one ticket for free.
But act fast, Chance warns.
“Faculty, staff and students need to get their tickets fast,” she said. “Because this will absolutely sell out.”
