Dr. Carol Hunter said many students are not aware of the importance of public health, but these kinds of opportunities bring public health nursing to the forefront.
There are more than 290,000 nurse practitioners in the United States, including 7,000 licensed in Georgia.
More than half of Georgia’s 159 counties do not have adequate primary care services to meet community needs.
Instructors utilize real world situations in training so these future nurses can be better prepared for conditions they may one day encounter.
