Augusta University Writing Project’s Author Series to return Sept. 20

The Augusta University Writing Project, an initiative of the College of Education, is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Author Series. The series began in September 2020 to encourage students and community members to meet award-winning authors for presentations, conversations and more.

Since its launch, more than 500 registrants have participated in the Author Series. At the author events — which are free and open to the public — authors discuss their books, the art of storytelling, the importance of literacy and the impact of children’s and young adult literature.

In summer 2021, the AU Writing Project highlighted LGBTQ authors, which received national media attention, and is currently hosting a scholar series that focuses on researchers and scholars in the field of education.

“Our author series programs have quickly become a hallmark of our AU Writing Project work,” said Dr. Rebecca Harper, associate professor in the College of Education and director of the Augusta University Writing Project.

“These author sessions have allowed us to stay connected with our colleagues not only in the local area, but beyond.”
