University child care center open for enrollment

The Augusta University Child Care Center is now accepting applications for children ages 6 weeks to 4 years old. The center provides quality care to children of university faculty, staff and students with space for up to 115 infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

“The center is such a great place for kids, and our use of the Creative Curriculum allows the children to explore and discover while in a high-quality learning environment,” said Vanessa Washington-Griffin, the center’s interim director.

The center, established in 1986, is one of the state’s Quality Rated facilities and is accredited with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The center offers programs for each child’s level of development and a variety of learning and activities based on age level.

Additionally, each instructor is licensed and shares a passion for helping children build confidence and critical thinking skills through hands-on projects.

“I’ve had the opportunity to serve at several other centers in the area, and none compares to the family atmosphere you feel here at Augusta University,” said Victoria Allen, a 17-year teacher at the center. “We are committed to giving our best, because we view this as an opportunity to impact the lives of future generations.”

Over the summer, the facility underwent renovations that included the expansion of the Pre-K classroom space, installation of a complete stainless-steel kitchen, and many green features such as super-insulated walls and automatic sensor lighting in the classrooms.

The facility is located at 601 Bailie St. and is open from 6 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information about enrollment opportunities, call 706-721-4171.
