Augusta University President Brooks A. Keel

Introducing the #RealKeel newsletter

To launch the inaugural Real Keel newsletter this October, President Brooks Keel shared this message with all Augusta University students, faculty and staff:

You, the wonderfully creative, talented, dedicated individuals of Jaguar Nation, are the heartbeat of our institution. You are the experts who know best how to improve on our promise and discover our potential. That’s why I want to hear from you.

Each month this presidential update will provide you with an overview of the latest news, issues and events happening across our campuses and care facilities. My hope is that we can start a dialogue. Where we ask questions and seek solutions. Where we drop excuses and take action. Where we come together for the betterment of ourselves and those around us.

Each edition is an opportunity to connect with one another and talk about the issues helping to shape the future of our institution. Have questions or feedback? Submit them to me online or use the hashtag #RealKeel and each month I will feature one question and answer in the “Augusta University Asks” section of this newsletter.

Jaguar Nation is full of exceptional people who deserve recognition. That’s why each month I will feature the positive work of our friends, students and colleagues across the institution that may have been missed in traditional media outlets.

For example, did you know that one faculty member was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Medical Illustrators? Or that another received the 2017 Appalachian Book of the Year Award for his debut novel?

And did you hear about the radiology resident, who after leaving work rushed to assist two people involved in a severe car wreck on Walton Way?

These are just a few examples of the extraordinary work that happens here every day.

You are our heroes. Whether you teach students, see patients, work on lifesaving research discoveries, are furthering your education or support the work that makes each of these things possible — you are an important part of the Augusta University family and critical to our success.

Today I say thank you and ask that you continue to watch for updates in the months ahead as we celebrate what we can achieve together. I can’t wait to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Brooks Keel
